Mobeye products have a communication module and (built-in) antenna. In the situation of a weak mobile network, we advise to opt for an external antenna with more gain, or for a relocation of the antenna.
Every Mobeye device has an antenna. Usually this is an internal aerial, inside the housing. In most places this is sufficient for good communication, especially when the multi-provider Mobeye SIM card is used. In places where the GSM range is weak, for example in a container, basement or engine room, an external antenna is an option. Installing the antenna in anarea with strong reachand routing it to the base unit ensures reliable communication.
The mounting connector on the circuit board for the external antenna is different from that of the internal one. As a result, the conversion is not plug and play. A UFL-SMA connector is attached to the bottom of the circuit board, and an additional hole is required in the housing.
Mobeye can prepare this before delivering a product. If the need only becomes apparent afterwards, Mobeye can carry out the conversion. For handy people with technical insight a conversion kit is available .
